Craft Music is a dedicated music education service, providing personalized in-home lessons for students in Los Angeles and Portland, Oregon, as well as accessible online instruction for aspiring musicians everywhere. Our mission is to empower individuals with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to explore their musical passions and to cultivate a lifelong love for the art. We achieve this through a friendly, professional approach that emphasizes three core principles: technical mastery, creative expression, and community engagement.
1. Technical Mastery: The Building Blocks of Music
At Craft Music, we prioritize teaching the fundamentals of technique for each chosen instrument. This essential foundation enables our students to understand and navigate rhythm, harmony, and the traditional aspects of their instrument with ease. We also emphasize the importance of recognizing the instrument's place within a larger musical context, examining its role in various musical traditions and styles.
2. Creative Expression: The Soul of Music
We believe that music serves as a powerful means of self-expression, akin to any other language. Our teaching philosophy encourages students to communicate their thoughts, emotions, and stories through music. This approach encompasses several avenues for creative exploration, including improvisation, where students can experiment with real-time musical ideas; composition, where they can craft original works that reflect their unique artistic voice; and written reflections that allow students to articulate their musical experiences and discoveries.
3. Community Engagement: The Heart of Musical Connections
Music, like any language, thrives in a communal setting. At Craft Music, we create opportunities for students to collaborate with fellow musicians, fostering a sense of camaraderie and mutual support. Our students can participate in workshops, where they can share their knowledge, learn from others, and grow together as musicians. Additionally, we organize recitals that provide a platform for showcasing individual achievements, celebrating progress, and inspiring others through the power of music.
By combining these three core principles, Craft Music aims to provide a comprehensive and engaging music education experience that nurtures the creative spirit, hones the artistic skills of every individual, and fosters a strong sense of community. Our passionate, professional instructors tailor each lesson to the student's needs and goals, ensuring a personalized and fulfilling learning journey.
Whether you are an absolute beginner or an experienced musician seeking to refine your skills, Craft Music is committed to guiding you on your musical journey. Through our in-home lessons in Los Angeles and Portland, Oregon, and our online offerings for students across the globe, we strive to make music education accessible and enjoyable for everyone. Join us in our mission to empower musical minds, inspire creative expression, and build lasting connections within our vibrant and diverse musical community.
How We Measure Success
1. You study your instrument with your teacher.
Through consistent lessons and practice, you study your instruments and become more and more proficient.
2. You express yourself through a favorite song, or even your own composition.
Music is a language that is for self-expression, connection. We can help you express yourself through conventional study, improvisation, and even songwriting / composition, and audio production.
3. You share your music with our community, and yours.
Students have the opportunity to collaborate, and to perform in workshop recitals, and end-of-the-year recitals. We hope you continue playing and sharing!
