Q&A with Annie
Which musician would you like to play with?
Bill Evans
Which musician has influenced you the most?
As I am a singer, I would say that Billie Holiday, Nina Simone and Abbey Lincoln were strong influences in my life, but there are so many. Now, it is Ivan Lins and Djavan from Brazil.
What can you teach me better on your instrument than any other teacher?
I can help you connect to your lyrics on an emotional level, as I was a co-founder of an Institute in Germany and taught integrated body psychotherapy. To me, as a singer, my goal is to reach the deepest feelings and memories of my audience.
How did you learn to play your instrument?
My mother was a singer, so from early childhood, I was singing. I also have had two years of graduate school in Jazz Performance. In between, there were many performances in many genres. My first gig was at 15 with a folk band. At present, my partner and I are performing Jazz, Brazilian, R&B, Blues and Classic Rock at our gigs.
What equipment do you play on today?
I have a wireless mic, by Sennheiser.
Which personal trait helped you the most while practicing?
My desire to get better and to go deeper.
What does your instrument have that others don't?
My personal feelings.
How do you handle children?
I taught music for about 13 years in school. At present, I teach special needs children as a teaching artist on Zoom, through Arts4All. These are 6 week residencies. I handle them with love. Simple.
What has been your greatest experience as a musician so far?
During Perestroika, I was living in Berlin and met a Russian Rock star. We collaborated and wrote a song called Face to Face, my lyrics. I ended up going to Moscow and playing for the Russian Army. I spent three years working with that band, they were Heavy Metal and I was Jazz and we played my original songs. The video that we made of Face to Face was played at the Gorbachev/Bush meeting. Breaking through walls.
What was the biggest stage you played on?

Recent reviews: on TheBash: Community Event•Reviewed on October 9, 2021•From Sarasota, FL What a beautiful evening of music! Annie and Jamil were so friendly, professional and entertaining! Everyone I spoke with had a MOST Enjoyable evening. I would be glad to have them back for another show in the future. Their show was a great change from what I am used to and we loved it. Please thank them for us. Tom H Just The Two of Us: Annie Addington, Jamil Ghattas: The duet group of “Just the Two of Us” performed at my New Year's Eve Party this year. It is with pleasure that I am writing this review. They arrived early to the party and set up quickly. They were professional in every manner and greeted my guests. More importantly, their music was exciting and added to the ambiance of the New Year's Eve Party theme. They performed music that my guests enjoyed dancing to, both fast and slow rhythms. They prepared a lovely performance and my guests complimented the music which all felt added to the liveliness of the party. It was well noted and expressed by guests that they were so talented. It is with the highest regard that I recommend them as an addition to any event and I would hire them again for an event I would hold in the future. On a scale of 1 to 5 , they would get a 10 from me for their performance at my party.
