As a dedicated educator with a passion for nurturing the next generation of musicians, Ethan Elseth brings his extensive experience as a composer and multi-instrumentalist into the classroom. Originally from Saint Paul, Minnesota, he relocated to Los Angeles to complete his M.M. in Screen Scoring from the University of Southern California. Prior to his academic pursuits, Ethan toured both nationally and internationally as a guitarist. He has also collaborated with renowned orchestras such as the Minnesota Orchestra, the Quad City Symphony, and the Cape Cod Symphony, as well as a wide array of musical artists from the Twin Cities. Ethan's teaching philosophy is deeply influenced by his eclectic musical tastes and his own professional journey. His collaborative spirit and easygoing nature make him a favorite among students, who benefit not just from his technical expertise but also from his broad musical perspective. Ethan takes great pleasure in seeing his students' love for music flourish and is committed to showing them the profound impact that music can have on their lives. His versatility and depth as a musician are readily apparent in his compositions and songs.

What can you teach me better on your instrument than any other teacher?

How to blend a thoughtful, compositionally-driven approach to improvising with a natural, emotive sound.

How did you learn to play your instrument?

I began piano and saxophone lessons at an early age, helping me set a foundational understanding of written music. At 13, I began teaching myself guitar and learning through YouTube until I pursued a Bachelor's in Guitar Performance.

What equipment do you play on today?

Custom Suhr Modern, 1997 USA Thinline Telecaster and various other instruments.

Which personal trait helped you the most while practicing?

Patience, Perseverance, and Self-Determination

How do you handle children?

With great patience and understanding.

What has been your greatest experience as a musician so far?

Recording my music at Warner Bros. Studios and receiving genuine praise from the players of the orchestra.

What was the biggest stage you played on?

TCF Bank Stadium - Crowd of 32,000

Besides music, what else is important in your life?

Family, Reading, Chess, and my Onewheel.
