Piano Lessons for Every Age
Portland's youth music community is extraordinarily active — school music programs, youth orchestras, and community arts centres all create a rich environment for young musicians. Starting piano early gives Portland children a head start not just musically, but academically.
Music notation directly builds mathematical thinking
Memorising pieces builds working memory capacity
Structured practice builds attention span
Music develops self-expression and empathy
Our Portland piano teachers who work with children specialise in making early lessons engaging and joyful — using songs the child already loves, colourful educational materials, and games that build technique naturally.
Many Portland adults come to Craft Music after years of saying "I always wanted to learn piano." The good news: there is no age limit on musical learning, and adult beginners often make surprisingly fast progress because of their motivation and ability to understand abstract concepts.
