Video lessons, Hi‑Fi audio setup, and getting paid with Stripe

Online video lessons

Everything you use in the browser during a live lesson: devices, Hi‑Fi / DAW routing, screen share, chat, and teaching tools.

Hi‑Fi DAW & loopback audio
Hi‑Fi / DAW audio — why install BlackHole or VB‑CABLE first?

When you teach from a DAW, digital piano app, or interface, the in‑call Hi‑Fi / DAW panel helps you pick mic + loopback. On Mac use BlackHole; on Windows use VB‑CABLE (VB‑Audio). That sends stereo music without the “phone call” sound.

Tip: Install before your lesson, then quit and reopen your browser so new devices appear.

Mac — BlackHole (download & setup)

Download BlackHole (official) ↗ — choose BlackHole 2ch (stereo) unless you need more channels.

  1. Download and open the installer.
  2. Run the .pkg and finish installation.
  3. Quit and reopen your browser.
  4. In your DAW, set main output to BlackHole 2ch.
  5. In the lesson: Hi‑Fi / DAW → select BlackHole as loopback → start sharing.
Windows — VB‑CABLE (download & setup)

Download VB‑CABLE (official) ↗. After install you should see CABLE Input / CABLE Output in Windows sound settings.

  1. Run the installer; approve the virtual audio driver if prompted; restart if recommended.
  2. Quit and reopen your browser.
  3. In your DAW, set output to CABLE Input (DAW plays into the cable).
  4. In the lesson: Hi‑Fi → pick the CABLE / VB‑Audio capture device → start sharing.
Linux — loopback note

Advanced setups often use PipeWire/Pulse monitor routes or JACK/ALSA loopback. See PipeWire ↗. Your browser will only list devices the OS exposes.

Video Lesson room & controls
Browsers & before you join

Most modern browsers work. Use a recent Firefox, Chrome, Edge, Safari, or Brave. If video, sound, or screen share glitches, refresh or try another updated browser.

Use your Craft lesson link, allow camera and microphone, and test on the pre‑join screen.

How a lesson session works

Open your link → pre‑join (camera, mic, speakers) → join the video room. You’ll see your student and any screen share; layout may change when someone shares.

Some optional features (e.g. certain background effects) may only appear in some browsers — the lesson still runs without them.

Main toolbar: mic, camera, screen share, audio apps, chat
  • Mic & camera — mute/video; change devices in gear / settings.
  • Screen share — screen, window, or tab; presenter / document for PDFs and annotations.
  • Audio apps — Hi‑Fi / DAW, tuner, metronome, music theory panels.
  • Chat — messages and file attachments in call.
Gear menu (settings)
  • Camera & microphone — device selection.
  • Speakers / headphones — output; the app tries to avoid routing into loopback devices.
  • Music mode & noise compression — speech vs. full musical sound.
  • Background blur — Off / Low / Medium / High when supported.
  • Recording — host start/stop when your organization enables it.
Teaching tools
  • Presenter / document — PDFs, images, zoom, pointer, drawing; send annotated pages to chat.
  • Screen share view — pointer/drawing when appropriate for your role.
  • Layout — grid vs. spotlight, fullscreen.
  • Connection quality — indicator for weak networks.
Audio or device not showing after installing drivers?

Restart the browser or computer, then open the pre‑join screen again. Update the browser or try another current browser if the lesson page misbehaves.

Getting paid — Stripe payouts

Connect your payout account in Craft, track earnings, and request a transfer when your balance is ready — all on your Payout page.

Payouts Stripe Connect
Where do I manage payouts?

In your teacher dashboard, open Payout. You’ll see Stripe Connect status, available withdrawable balance, pending earnings, payout history, and Request Payout.

Why Stripe Connect?

Craft uses Stripe Connect to pay earnings to your bank. Complete onboarding on the Payout page; you may be sent to Stripe and then returned to Craft.

If setup is incomplete, continue or restart onboarding until requirements are satisfied.

Available balance vs. pending earnings

Available withdrawable balance is what you can request subject to payout rules.

Pending earnings shows line items (e.g. by student) feeding your balance. When funds become available is determined by Craft’s billing on the server.

How do I request a payout?

When your default method has payouts enabled and your available balance is at least $10, click Request Payout and confirm.

If the button is disabled, finish Stripe onboarding, set a default enabled method, or wait until you meet the minimum.

Enable or disable payouts

On the Payout page, use enable or disable payouts on your connected account when those actions appear (e.g. after onboarding).

Payout history & CSV export

Review past payouts and statuses (pending, processing, completed, failed). Use pagination for older entries.

Download a CSV of your payout history for records or accounting.

Returned from Stripe — something looks wrong

Craft refreshes your connection status after onboarding. Reopen Payout and complete or restart onboarding if needed.

Wait a few minutes, refresh, then contact support with a screenshot if balances or status still look incorrect.
