I coach jazz harmony, voicings, and improv for all levels using The Real Book and transcribed solos. We cover blues, Latin, Montuno, and modern styles, and I love laying down bass lines while students solo.

I help students of any age write their own music, from a first made-up song on the piano to full songs with lyrics. I've been writing since I was 15 and work as a songwriter in LA, so I teach it the way it happens in a real writers room.

I teach recording, producing, and building backing tracks in Pro Tools and Ableton Live, mostly for teens and adults. Lessons are hands-on in a professional studio, so students learn the software by actually making music.

I teach beginners ages 4 and up with games, rhythm clapping, storytelling, and whiteboard drawing. Early on, the goal is for students to feel confident and excited about music while building good habits and fundamentals.

I've composed and arranged for the short films "Fawns" and "When October Cries," scored the play "Pure Woman," and engineered music for a feature film. I teach writing to picture, from building mood and tension to syncing cues, scoring real clips in Ableton Live or Pro Tools.

I'm a music director and playback engineer for working LA bands, and I've toured opening for G Flip. I teach bands and students how to build a live set: arranging for the stage, running rehearsals, and designing Ableton playback rigs so the show hits harder than the record.

I've accompanied a Broadway West Side Story performer and composed and programmed QLab for a stage play. I teach pianists how to accompany musical theatre: reading the score, following a singer, and making the music support the story.

I'm the studio manager at Simon Says Recording Studio in Los Feliz, where I engineer, produce, and build live playback rigs for bands. One of my long-term goals is to open a songwriting school for kids with my best friend. Being a working musician today means knowing songwriting, producing, and even marketing, and I'd love to teach all of that to students early on.

Touring with Vienna Vienna opening for G Flip was the biggest. Playing to crowds that size every night was unreal. I also worked the NAMM Show stage in 2025, which was a completely different kind of big.

Bon Iver, no question. I've followed every song, interview, and production he's done for most of my life, and I'd love to see how he builds his sound in the room.

Bon Iver. He spent years teaching, studying theory, and producing from scratch before anyone knew his name, which is what a working musician looks like to me. His honesty and the way he bends any genre into his own experience is something I try to bring into my teaching.

How to take piano beyond the page. I can teach you Bach, but I can also show you how to improv over a blues, write your own song, and turn it into a full production in the studio. I've done all of it professionally, so we can go wherever your interests take you.

I started classical piano lessons at 6 and added jazz at 11, and kept both going through college. My teacher and my parents never tried to corner me into one way of playing. They let me explore what I loved while keeping me honest on technique. Songwriting and production I taught myself starting at 15.

Curiosity! When I got bored of a piece, I'd go find a jazz recording or a song I loved and figure it out by ear. That's why I tell my students to spend 5 minutes every practice just exploring with no rules. Some of my best ideas came from that.

The piano lets you play melody, harmony, and rhythm all at once, so you can be a whole band by yourself. It's also the best instrument for understanding how music works, which is why it makes such a great foundation for songwriting and producing.

With lots of games, stories, and patience. New things are scary, so I start by getting to know them and making them feel at ease. I'm friendly but firm with expectations, like "hands in lap" when we're not playing. When a kid gets shy, I'm never too cool to not embarrass myself for them. I've played notes with my nose to get a laugh, and sang awful harmonies to so many pop songs!

My family and friends. I always make time for the people closest to me. I also care a lot about science and the environment, and one day I'd love to research how climate change will affect touring musicians.

Honestly, all of them! I've taught students from 4 years old all the way to people in their 60s. Little kids are so much fun because everything is a game, and teens and adults are great because we can dig into the music they actually love and start writing and producing their own.

I was a session and live pianist for Grammy-winning composer Maria Schneider, and I toured as tour manager and keys/synth player for Vienna Vienna, opening for G Flip. I'm the music director for Corbo, Bailey Drew, and Equine, and I've played keys for Oranje Space, The Bed Heads, and Adrian Watkins. I also accompanied a Broadway West Side Story performer and composed for the short films "Fawns" and "When October Cries."

Playing piano for Maria Schneider is at the top of the list. I also spent 4 years at State Solo & Ensemble on both clarinet and piano, played in All-State and All-Northwest honor bands, and was lead conductor for the Scott Reese Band Leadership Camp performance. But the thing I'm most proud of is getting a shy student to play me a whole song she wrote herself.

I have a biochemistry degree and I've worked in lab research, so science is still a big part of my life. I also love marketing and helping bands build their brand, and I make music videos. Most of all, I make time for my family and friends.
