Craft Music In-Home Studio Guidelines

Hello, and welcome to Craft Music.

We’re glad to be working with you. Our goal is to make in-home lessons focused, creative, and sustainable over time. These guidelines help keep scheduling clear, the home environment workable, and the learning process consistent.

1. In-Home Lesson Environment

Please have the instrument, books, notebook, and any current lesson materials ready before the lesson begins.

For the lesson space, we ask that families provide a reasonably quiet, focused area where the student can work without too many distractions. For piano students, the instrument should be reasonably in tune, or the digital piano should be fully set up and functioning. For guitar and string students, a tuner and music stand are helpful. For drum students, sticks and either a kit or practice surface should be ready.

2. Access, Parking, and Arrival

Please make sure we have the correct lesson address, best contact number, and any relevant entry details in advance, including apartment number, gate code, parking instructions, or anything else needed for smooth arrival.

If pets may interfere with the lesson, please keep them secured during lesson time.

3. Parent or Guardian Presence

For lessons with minors, a parent, guardian, or responsible adult should be at home and reachable during the lesson.

All lesson-related communication for minors should include the parent or guardian.

4. Weekly Scheduling and Consistency

Your lesson time is reserved specifically for you.

Because progress in music depends so much on rhythm and continuity, we strongly encourage a regular weekly cadence. Consistent lessons support student growth, and they also allow the teacher to maintain a dependable schedule.

5. Cancellations and Makeup Lessons

If you need to cancel or change a lesson, we ask for at least 24 hours’ notice.

When enough notice is given, we will do our best to offer a makeup lesson or another reasonable solution. Makeup scheduling is handled case by case and depends on teacher availability. In some cases, this may mean a rescheduled lesson, a longer future lesson, or another mutually workable option.

Lessons canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice, or missed without notice, are billed in full.

6. Teacher Absences

If a teacher needs to miss a lesson, Craft Music will make every effort to offer a reschedule, substitute teacher, or lesson credit, depending on the situation.

7. Illness

If a student is ill, especially with something contagious, please let us know as early as possible.

In some situations, rescheduling or shifting online may be the best option for everyone involved.

8. Payment

For recurring lessons, invoices are typically sent at the end of the month and are due within the first ten days of the following month.

Accepted forms of payment are Zelle, Venmo, or check made out to Craft Music.

Rates are quoted separately and reflect the current lesson format, region, and arrangement.

9. Back-to-Back and Multi-Student Households

We are happy to accommodate siblings or multiple students in the same home when scheduling allows.

Where applicable, any approved back-to-back or multi-student discount will be reflected in the quoted rate or invoice.

10. Communication

Email is the best way to reach us regarding scheduling, lesson materials, and general studio questions.

Text is best for day-of logistics such as arrival, gate access, parking, or brief timing updates.

11. Safety and Respect

Craft Music reserves the right to pause, relocate, or discontinue in-home lessons if the teaching environment is repeatedly inaccessible, unsafe, or not workable for effective instruction.

12. Ending Lessons

If you choose to discontinue lessons, we ask for 30 days’ notice.
