I teach guitar at every level, from first chords to advanced technique, across electric, acoustic and classical styles. Lessons cover reading, ear training and repertoire suited to each student's goals.

I have years of experience teaching students with autism, Down syndrome and other learning differences, as well as English language learners and gifted students, adapting lessons to how each student learns best.

If you just want to learn how to play an instrument, there are plenty of teachers who can get you there. What I can offer is something beyond that: how to become a real musician, not just someone who plays one instrument. If you want to understand how music actually works and push yourself to become the best musician you can be.

I learned the wrong way. In my twenties I treated it as an intellectual exercise, focused almost entirely on technique, sometimes spending five to eight hours a day on scales alone. As I've grown as a musician, I've realized that only takes you so far. Music is pure energy and pure emotion, and the point of playing is to express yourself and give that energy to others. If you get too caught up in the technical side, you miss the entire reason you picked up the instrument in the first place.

I think its important to be free with you practice. I believe that you play music not work it.

I listen closely and stay open to what each child brings into the lesson, and I meet them where they are, adjusting the material and my approach to what they need from me as a teacher that day.
