I teach samba, bossa nova, songo, and Afro-Cuban grooves on drum set for intermediate and advanced students, focusing on clave, independence, and authentic feel.

I teach ska, reggae, and country grooves for all levels, covering one-drop, rockers, train beats, and shuffles, with an emphasis on feel and serving the song.

I help students at all levels develop solid time and a relaxed pocket through click work, play-alongs, and dynamics, drawing on decades of studio and touring experience.

I teach drum set reading from basic rhythms to charts for beginners through advanced students, so they can learn songs faster and work confidently in bands and sessions.

I prepare intermediate and advanced drummers for recording sessions, covering click comfort, consistency, dynamics, and tasteful parts, based on my work with top producers.

I use play-alongs and backing tracks with students of all ages to make practice fun and musical, building timing, endurance, and the feel of playing with a band.

Growing up in a military family, drums gave me focus. I studied music at the University of Northern Colorado and earned my degree in music performance at CU Denver, while playing professionally in country, ska, reggae, punk, and rock bands to pay tuition.

I play Drum Workshop Drums, Zildjian Cymbals, and a whole host of other vintage drumsets and cymbals.
