JeffreyM.

I teach samba, bossa nova, songo, and Afro-Cuban grooves on drum set for intermediate and advanced students, focusing on clave, independence, and authentic feel.

I teach young beginners with short, playful activities, simple grooves, and lots of encouragement, building coordination, listening, and confidence one small win at a time.

I teach ska, reggae, and country grooves for all levels, covering one-drop, rockers, train beats, and shuffles, with an emphasis on feel and serving the song.

I help students at all levels develop solid time and a relaxed pocket through click work, play-alongs, and dynamics, drawing on decades of studio and touring experience.

I teach drum set reading from basic rhythms to charts for beginners through advanced students, so they can learn songs faster and work confidently in bands and sessions.

I prepare intermediate and advanced drummers for recording sessions, covering click comfort, consistency, dynamics, and tasteful parts, based on my work with top producers.

I use play-alongs and backing tracks with students of all ages to make practice fun and musical, building timing, endurance, and the feel of playing with a band.

I teach jazz and funk drumming for all levels, from swing ride patterns and comping to syncopated grooves and ghost notes, with a focus on feel, dynamics, and listening.

All of them. I love working with young beginners (5 and up), teens finding their sound, and adults who've always wanted to play or are coming back to it.

International touring and recording with the Nina Hagen Band; Ghettoblaster (Elektra Records); Josie Cotton; Tyler Hilton (Maverick Records); Ralph's World (Walt Disney Records); and Blood of Abraham (Atomic Pop Records). I've recorded with producers Eric Valentine, Geza X, Wayne Kramer, and Jacquire King.

Drum set, all levels: beginner, intermediate, and advanced.

How to play like a working drummer: solid time, good feel, and parts that serve the song. That's what producers and bands hire drummers for, and it's what I've done professionally for decades.

Growing up in a military family, drums gave me focus. I studied music at the University of Northern Colorado and earned my degree in music performance at CU Denver, while playing professionally in country, ska, reggae, punk, and rock bands to pay tuition.

With patience and play. Lessons for young kids are short, active segments: simple grooves, games, and songs they know, with lots of encouragement. I keep it fun so they want to come back, and I build real skills underneath.
