About Murat S.

Murat Selçuk is a dedicated educator who has taught piano and clarinet to students aged 5 to 13, known for his patience and understanding of young learners. He creates a supportive and engaging environment tailored to each student’s needs, emphasizing the joy and exploration of music. Murat is also a composer, music producer, and classical clarinetist originally from Turkey, now based in Los Angeles. His recent project is the Netflix series ‘Dead Boy Detectives,’ co-composed with Blake Neely. Growing up in Istanbul, Murat developed an eclectic taste in music and film, influenced by the 80s and 90s electronic music scene. He began producing music on his first synthesizer as a teenager. His passion for classical music led him to study classical clarinet at Istanbul University State Conservatory, performing with leading orchestras both nationally and internationally. After graduation, Murat moved to France to study composition at Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régionale d’Annecy, collaborating with directors from Cinédoc Paris Films and writing music for animation projects from ArtFx Studios, École Pivaut, and Gobelins. He earned his Master’s degree in film scoring from the University of Southern California in 2014, mentored by James Newton Howard.
