I'm incredibly good at teaching the bow arm, which is such an important part of playing the violin

I grew up learning from a friend of my parents. She had structure but also allowed for a lot of creative freedom on my end which led to writing and arranging music as well as playing.

I have a beautiful violin from the 1940s that I primarily use. Recently I purchased an electric violin for shows and it's been really helpful having a DI for playing with louder bands.

I'm incredibly persistent and don't like to quit so I think both of those traits really helped me to practice. My parents are also classical musicians and they were pretty strict about our practice schedule.

For younger students, I focus on immediate redirection, visual routines, heavy positive reinforcement, and playfulness, using short, game-based activities to match their attention span. For older children, I shift toward student autonomy and collaboration. I let them help choose their repertoire, co-create practice goals, and self-assess their playing, which builds mutual respect and keeps them intrinsically motivated

I got to sing on Neil Young's album Americana as a teenager and that was really cool.
