About Sam L.
Sam has been teaching guitar, piano, electric bass, and drums in the L.A. area for over 15 years and works as a session player, freelance producer, composer, and arranger. He holds a BFA in Composition from the California Institute of the Arts and has contributed to arts education at the L.A. Philharmonic, 24th Street Theatre, CalArts, and Chapman University. From 2006-2010, Sam founded and taught his own rock school, offering students performance and recording experiences with peer bands and live audience showcases. He enjoys teaching all music styles, including rock, pop, jazz, classical, hip hop, punk, metal, video games, and musicals. His lessons focus on skill and technique through music that excites students, fostering creative expression and improvisation skills. Advanced students can explore Songwriting, Music Production, Theory, and Composition/Film scoring. Career highlights include scoring Cartoon Network shows ‘OK K.O. Let’s Be Heroes’ and ‘Mao Mao: Heroes of Pure Heart’ (2018-2020), recording with the City of Prague Philharmonic in 2015, and releasing four albums of original music from 2008 to 2013, available on major streaming platforms.
